Our Story
Transforming unwanted textiles into something useful
At Afiso, we believe fashion doesn't have to cost the earth, and every piece of clothing deserves a second life. We transform unwanted textiles, including Ankara prints, denim, and other discarded fabrics, into handcrafted bags and functional accessories that celebrate creativity, cultural heritage, and sustainability.
Over the past few months, we have rescued and transformed a wide range of textiles into over 50 handcrafted bags, selling them through our website and at trade fairs across Scotland, including Edinburgh and Glasgow. Our work has been featured at Railyard Market and Park Lane Market, where we have connected with customers who value sustainable fashion and handmade craftsmanship.
Beyond creating products, we believe the greatest impact comes from sharing knowledge. We have co-hosted a four-day sewing workshop alongside Jajex Apparel, introducing teenagers to sewing, upcycling, and garment-making while encouraging them to see unwanted clothing as a valuable resource rather than waste.
Giving clothing a second life and passing on our sewing and upcycling knowledge is at the heart of Afiso. As we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to reduce textile waste, inspire more people to embrace sustainable fashion, and empower the next generation with practical creative skills.
